The Bridge to Oasis Foundation (BTO) is a federally registered Charitable organization committed to supporting seniors of African and Caribbean descent. Its mission is to uplift these seniors, helping them thrive while celebrating their heritage and contributions to Canadian society. Through a variety of programs and initiatives, BTO addresses the unique challenges faced by this often-overlooked community.
The foundation focuses on three core areas:
- Healthy Living: Offering health, wellness, nutrition, and fitness programs tailored to the needs of Afro-Canadian seniors.
- Engaging Living: Creating opportunities for social interaction, fostering connections, and reducing isolation.
- Nostalgic Living: Celebrating cultural traditions and heritage, ensuring seniors can connect with their roots.
BTO provides vital services, including health and dietary workshops led by professionals, food hamper deliveries to seniors in need, and partnerships with other organizations to ensure seniors remain safe, nourished, and supported. The foundation also organizes events such as cultural celebrations, comedy nights, concerts, and awareness campaigns to foster a sense of belonging and joy among seniors.
Through donations, in-kind giving, and volunteer efforts, BTO relies on community support to make a meaningful impact. Volunteers play a key role in delivering services, assisting with events, and supporting seniors directly. Whether through financial contributions or active participation, supporters help BTO create a safe and thriving community for Afro-Canadian seniors.
By addressing health, community engagement, and cultural reconnection, BTO ensures these seniors feel valued and empowered, making a lasting impact on their lives and the broader community.
