With winter quickly approaching, Church of the Redeemer aims to reach out to individuals experiencing homelessness during the winter season in the Yorkville area. Many of those living in homelessness have adopted immense mistrust in our current healthcare system, deterring them from seeking out supportive resources.
The outreach initiative, therefore, plans on organizing volunteer groups that will reach out to individuals experiencing homelessness with continuous engagement to build a rapport and foster trust. We hope while engaging, those who are homeless could be provided with resources (i.e. hygiene products, woollen garments, sleeping bags and reusable water bottles), equipping them to subsist the cold. In doing so, we are hopeful that we will not observe the consequences of winter that our community faced last year.
