Mission
Our mission is to increase food security and capacity for independence among community members in North Winnipeg through affordable and free meals, food education, mentorship, and both paid and volunteer opportunities for meaningful employment.
Vision
We envision a future for Winnipeg that is fair, inclusive and equitable to people from all walks of life. Our long term goal is to make food insecurity history by building the capacity for independence of individuals and families, with focus on Indigenous community members, and those who are marginalized. We do this by creating micro circular economies and utilizing alternative economic models, like Pay it Forward and Pay What You Can.
Values
As an Indigenous-led Incorporated non-profit social enterprise, it is our main priority to hire primarily Indigenous staff, however, our next priority is to hire youth, and individuals with barriers to employment. We follow the seven sacred teachings of love, courage, respect, humility, truth, wisdom, and honesty, and make decisions that promote long term sustainability and steady growth. We use a people first, harm reduction model where the answer to an expressed need is always “yes”, and then we create solutions based on what we can do, what our partners can do, and what external resources we can share based on our community relationships.
