Dreams Take Flight Ottawa is a non-profit, 100% volunteer (no paid positions) run organization dedicated to providing a 24hour, trip-of-a-lifetime to deserving children who have each endured a variety of hardships that may be medical, mental, physical or social. These children are generally from homes where the caregivers are not currently in a financial position to take the children on trips. Dreams Take Flight Ottawa is one of 8 chapters of this organization, and each year, we take approximately 130 children from the National Capital Region (Ottawa and its outskirts, and the Outaouais) on this trip. The age group ranges from 7 – 14 years of age. 

This trip occurs once a year, usually taking place in the month of November. Our fundraising and sponsorship initiatives are a year round endeavour, as is the planning and execution of our major event, the flight.

As part of our trip, we provide our VIP children with a backpack full of board games, hygiene products, books and school supplies. We also provide each child with a full head-to-toe outfit including a hat, tshirt, hoodie, shorts, pants and new pair of shoes. Support from Kits for a Cause could assist us in reducing the costs for our operations. With the cost of the actual flight day requirements increasing (ex: park entry tickets, souvenir purchases, food/beverage, transportation etc), any and all community support is being welcomed.
