Eastview is located in the high-density, low-income neighbourhood of Blake/Boultbee. Adjacent to our Centre is a large social housing complex of high-rises and town houses operated by Toronto Community Housing Corporation, whose tenants are of various ethno-racial backgrounds, many of whom are newcomers to Canada.
The majority of the children and youth we serve in our community and satellite locations face multiple barriers, including food insecurity, poverty, recent immigration and being members of visible minorities. Social infra-structures to support families are limited, specifically for children and youth.
The families we serve do not have the resources to join fee based after-school social, academic and sports programming. Eastview’s Boys and Girls Club serves at risk children and youth through a wide variety of sports, social, recreational, health and nutrition activities and leadership, life skills, educational, arts and cultural programs. We offer daily programming after school, evenings, weekends, as well as full day programming on PA days and Summer and March Break day camps.
