For over three decades, the FCJ Refugee Centre has supported thousands of individuals, guiding them from their initial protection plea at the border to their journey toward permanent residency. We prioritize a holistic, client-centered approach, continuously evolving our services to meet people’s changing needs. With an open-door policy, we provide a unique, integrated model of refugee protection, settlement, and education. This includes operating a health clinic for those without coverage, supporting newcomer youth, and offering transitional housing for women and children who have fled violence and abuse.
Under our current integrated service delivery model, the Centre offers transitional housing for women and children; access to legal information, resources, and support for various immigration applications and processes; and assistance navigating housing, education, and other essential systems in Canada. Our four core programs—immigration and refugee protection, settlement and integration, youth and access to education, and anti-human trafficking—form the foundation of our services. These programs align with our primary objectives to support diverse newcomer communities and advocate for their equitable participation in Canadian society. Our work is rooted in anti-oppression and popular education, allowing us to serve clients regardless of their identity, needs, or social location.
