WHO WE ARE
Interfaith Food Bank Society of Lethbridge is a charitable non-profit organization that has been serving underprivileged members of our community since 1989. We aim to recognize the human dignity of those in need and to provide food and access to services and resources generated from within our community.
WHAT WE DO
We provide emergency food assistance and support through our food bank, we offer free cooking classes, garden programs and outreach services, and offer a use of the Co-op Community Kitchen to local agencies and groups looking to engage community members in activities centred around food security and poverty relief.
WHO WE SERVE
We cater to those in a variety of situations, ranging from single-parenthood, to seniors on fixed incomes, to the under or unemployed, or to those with other social or economic barriers. A survey done in March 2019 tells us 56% of our clients receive some form of government assistance due to disability or inability to enter the work force, 18% are “working poor”, 9% are students or seniors,7% are New Canadians, 7 % only receive spousal support, child support or child tax benefits, and the remaining 3% are in short-term financial crisis. In 2019, we served 15,960 individuals in Lethbridge and area, 40% of whom are children.
