Description of Organization- Founded over 20 years ago by 19 year old Cheryl Perera, an internationally recognized child rights advocate, Order of Ontario appointee, and 2025 Nobel Peace Prize nominee, OneChild is Canada’s only charitable organization dedicated exclusively to preventing the sexual exploitation of children (SEC).
Through evidence-informed specialized prevention education, youth leadership, advocacy, child survivor empowerment and survivor-informed programming, OneChild works to prevent exploitation with it’s mission of empowering a movement of children and youth to co-lead the fight against SEC, by equipping children, youth, families, educators, professionals, law enforcement and communities with the knowledge, skills, relationships and confidence needed to recognize risks, strengthen protective factors, and create safer environments where children are valued, protected and able to thrive.
