I am writing on behalf of our Team to respectfully request your support in providing hygiene kits for the newcomer clients we serve. I am part of the Newcomer Youth Engagement Program (NYEP) of Strides Toronto which is based in the district of Scarborough.
First of all, let me provide a short introduction to our organization and NYEP. The Strides Toronto is a community-based non-profit organization which offers mental health counselling, autism and developmental services, early intervention, outreach and education, family support, and community programs designed to strengthen social and emotional well-being and promote healthy development.
NYEP is one of Stride Toronto’s programs. It is a free, community-based initiative designed to support newcomer youth aged 12–21 who are Permanent Residents or Convention Refugees. The program is dedicated to helping young people successfully settle into their new community, strengthen their confidence, and build essential life skills. We offer a diverse range of programming, including career and post-secondary exploration, life skills development, psychoeducational sessions, creative workshops, and social and recreational activities to foster connection and personal growth.
Many of our youths and their families arriving in our community come with limited personal belongings and face immediate financial and logistical challenges. Access to basic hygiene items is essential to their health, dignity, and successful transition. We have sixty (60) clients per year. Through this request, we hope to partner with your organization to help meet these urgent needs and ensure our clients are welcomed with care and practical support as they begin rebuilding their lives.
