The Junior League of Toronto (www.jlt.org) is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. We provide formal and experiential training in governance, finance, fundraising, community projects, and member management in the non-profit sector. Since 1926, the JLT has started or supported many community programs while training our members to be civic leaders. Our members have gone on to be key civic leaders.
The JLT accomplishes its mission and all administrative support with one part-time staff member and many committed volunteers. The JLT membership comprises approximately 300 dynamic women. We are executives, teachers, nurses, community leaders, entrepreneurs, mothers and professionals. We welcome women of all backgrounds and ages who show an interest in and commitment to voluntarism.
Over the past 100 years, JLT members have contributed millions of volunteer hours in expertise, enthusiasm, and hard work to raise over $5 million to support or initiate more than 400 community projects. As we develop our members as civic leaders, our community work and projects focus on at-risk mothers and children. We team up with other community organizations (all registered charities) to do various community impact events. Our main community partners are: WoodGreen Community Services’ Homeward Bound Program, The Shoebox Project, SickKids Young Family Program, Period Purse and women and teen shelters in the GTA. They often ask us for welcome packages, season packages,… Other organizations suggested we utilize your services. (I am not sure I am completing the form correctly below by selecting the kits)
