TMSU, Centre for Safer Sex and Sexual Violence Support

Location: Toronto,
Ontario

The Centre for Safer Sex and Sexual Violence Support (C3SVS) is part of the Toronto Metropolitan Students’ Union (TMSU) serving the Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson) community.  C3SVS supports students in 3 avenues; sexual violence support, menstrual/reproductive health and safer sex. C3SVS is a student funded and student-run, community-based, safer space for knowledge-sharing, educational opportunities, and empowerment with the intention to prevent & respond to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence on our campus and in our communities. C3SVS also serves as the Toronto Metropolitan University community-hub for free safer sex & menstrual hygiene supplies. C3SVS runs a Sexual Assault Survivor Support Line, through peer-support volunteers for the survivors of the TMU community which runs 365 days from 10am-12am.

With the wide range of work C3SVS tackles and alongside other departments in the TMSU, we support marginalized students regarding our avenues through partnerships in our BIPOC Centre, Student Accessibility Collective, Queer Space, Trans Collective, SHIFT (mental health awareness and support) Centre, Good Food Centre (our food bank), etc. Within our university campus we see many students struggling with complex issues that overlap within marginalized populations and have been attempting to support students through poverty elimination efforts like free menstrual and safer sex supplies and through crisis effort like go bags, emergency funding and grants, etc.
