Hello! My name is Lee Heward and I’m Director of Operations at the Urban Compassion Project in Oakland, CA. We’re a 501(c)(3) non-profit that works with the unhoused, doing mutual aid distribution, encampment cleanups, case management, and advocacy. Every Thursday we do mutual aid distribution, taking a truck to shelters and encampments around the city to deliver clothing, hygiene packs, and other supplies to our unhoused neighbors.
We have had trouble sourcing our hygiene kits as it can get pretty pricey ordering online, even in bulk, and in-kind donations are not consistent. I was wondering if your organization might be able to provide hygiene kits for distribution. We usually include shampoo, soap, toothpaste/brushes, shaving kits, deodorant, face towels, body wipes, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, socks, and underwear. Any help you could provide would be so helpful for our clients.
