Afro Canadian Development Inc. is a registered charity organization dedicated to serving refugees, immigrants, homeless and underprivileged communities in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
With the rising inflation and cost of living, the demand for school supplies has increased by 30% over the past year, with many families still struggling to make ends meet. In a report by the Kids in Need Foundation, 70% of teachers reported that their students do not have the necessary school supplies, and this has led to lower grades, low self-esteem and a lack of engagement in the classroom. A study by the National Retail Federation also found that 60% of students who lack school supplies say that they skip class or do not attend school regularly.
At ACD, we are dedicated to empowering underprivileged children in our community by providing them with the necessary tools and resources to excel academically. As the new school year approaches, we are determined to ensure that every child has the opportunity to start off on the right foot, regardless of their financial circumstances. With this objective in mind, we are organizing our 2nd Annual Back To School Aid 2023 in August.
