Community Connections: Housing & Support
Housing & Support Programs
We are a recovery-oriented service that provides affordable housing with a wide range of person-centered support services for adults living with a serious mental illness.
We strive to foster and support independence and confidence, in order to help individuals make self-determined choices about the support they receive.
Working in partnership with you and others, we can create a respectful environment to improve quality of life. Everyone is treated with dignity and encouraged to achieve their chosen recovery-oriented course of action.
Our role is to provide high quality housing with support and work with you to determine your goals and strategies for succeeding.
Services are provided by team members located in Owen Sound, Wiarton, Hanover, Markdale, Southampton and Kincardine.
Addiction Supportive Housing (ASH)
This program provides subsidized transitional housing with weekly support offered by the Addiction Supportive Housing counsellor. Apartment units are fully furnished and are equipped with basic home essentials. The ASH worker works closely with other Addiction Services counsellors and other community professionals.
The Addiction Supportive Housing Program (ASH) is offered by New Directions for Alcohol, Drug and Gambling Problems in partnership with Community Connections Housing and Support.
This program is for individuals 16 and older, at risk of homelessness, who are attempting to reduce or eliminate harms associated with substance use and who are able to live independently with outreach support. Our clients must have a source of income through employment or social service supports (Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program).
Prior to being considering for the ASH program, clients will first be connected with an addiction counsellor at New Directions for assessment.
The ASH program provides subsidized transition housing for up to 364 days with weekly support offered by the ASH counsellor. Appointments occur in office and in home. Clients attend the ASH support group weekly. Apartment units come fully furnished and are equipped with basic home essentials (dishes, cutlery etc.)
