For over 35 years, Our Place Peel has provided homeless and at-risk youth in Peel region with safe shelter, support and hope for a brighter future. As a registered non-profit agency with a mission to end youth homelessness, our programs are designed to empower youth, instill hope and enhance lives by providing counselling and resources along with the basic necessities of life. Our programs include:
- Emergency Youth Shelters – a 20 bed shelter for youth in Mississauga and a 40 bed shelter for youth in Brampton
- Mental Health Program – mental health support including interventions, assessments and systems navigation
- Substance Use Program – counselling and resources to youth impacted by substance use focused on harm reduction and safety
- Refresh For Youth Programs – includes “Refresh Your Network” mediation and counselling for youth, “Refresh Your Skills” to improve social and emotional learning skills through cognitive group work, and “Refresh Zone” a ‘safe space group’ that focuses on positive solution-focused discussions around current issues and concerns with the guidance of mental health workers
- Y.P.E. (Helping Youth Prepare Effectively) – helping youth experiencing homelessness secure and maintain housing through advocacy, education and building positive relationships
- Home for Good – A collaborative of community organizations working together to help individuals experiencing homelessness find and maintain permanent housing
- nCourage – An Integrated Service Hub that provides low barrier, centrally located services for victims and survivors and individuals at-risk of sex trafficking
