My name is Jesus Alcantara, I am a 22-year-old college senior student at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, Texas (UTRGV). I live in a small town of 1,000 inhabitants located in the rural part of our county. Monte Alto, Texas, is a growing community that doesn’t have any resources other than a small gas station and one Dollar General. The closest grocery stores and city is located 20 minutes away, which may seem little to many but coming from a low-income town for many it is a difficult “simple” task.
After hurricane Hanna (July 25, 2020 – August 1, 2020) and this COVID-19 pandemic, I have seen that my small community has suffered in basic food, hygiene, and now with school starting (low school supplies). I want to help in any way I can, so I reach out to you for help. I don’t have anyone to help me out, my family and I aren’t financially stable either, but I know that there is always something and some way that I can help others that are in more need than I am. Any food, hygiene products, school supplies donations will be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time and help in advance.
